Mel does Half Marathon to support WCHF

My Updates

Wow, Thank You! Less than two weeks now!

Monday 23rd Feb
Thank you for everyone who donated to Women’s and Children’s Hospital Foundation, it really means a lot to our family. Looking back two years ago, we couldn’t imagine what life had for us. Little miss L’s journey started in the care of an incredible WCH team who treated us not just with the skills but also hearts. Now, she is a joyful, happy, healthy toddler, and this fundraiser is our way of saying thank you to the WCH medical team who stood by us in those early days. Less than two weeks to go! Training going OK, hard to find time but I did some training so lets see . Won’t do much running from now to preserve my legs ;) Here is the recap from the last week: - Easy run 3.05km @8:08min/km - Leg drills - interval 3.41km @6:33min/km - Steady run 5:04km @5:52min/km - Long run 10.41km @5:46min/km Ta, Mel.

(Sunday night) recap

Monday 16th Feb
Sorry that I am a bit late to update, because life happens.
Recap this week:
- Steady run 5.09km @ 5:54/km
- Interval run 4.26km @ 6:21/km
- Easy run 3.46km @ 7:22/km
- Long run 10.07km @ 7:21/km
Three weeks to go ! Getting excited but also curious if I can finish it! Wish could fit in more mileage in my training bag but…. I am a mum of two active little humans, needs to balance the time ❤️

Cheers,
Mel

Weighted walk/ hike!

Thursday 12th Feb
When the training plans dont go well, I try to adapt. Carrying little miss in the hiking backpack and do fast walking is what I need! That counts yeah?! Thank you again for everyone who has donated. This means a lot! I am proud of fundraising for Women and Children’s Hospital Foundation. Mel

Sunday night recap

Sunday 8th Feb
Never been too disciplined on my running before but knowing I will be doing 21.1km, I have to work for it. This week’s running recap: • Long run: 7.07 km @ 6:29/km • Zone 2: 5.18 km @ 8:01/km (properly easy) • Steady: 3.34 km @ 6:05/km • Drills / faster work: 4.17 km @ 5:39/km Waking up early is the best trick for my schedule, often the mother nature put on some spectacular shows (see image: sun rise over the beautiful Anstey Hill) Cheers, Mel

Training has started

Wednesday 4th Feb
Not sure how I can fit in much training in between looking after kids, working, housework and just being a mum. But we shall see. Waking up early and getting it done is the key! The early bird catches the worm!

Thank you!

Wednesday 4th Feb
Thank you for those who have already donated! I am so grateful to be able to fundraise for WCHF. WCH was a place that we regularly visited while I was pregnant with miss L. All the doctors, nurses and staff were so kind, helpful and supportive . Ensuring that everything was alright. We couldn’t do it without them ❤️

Grange Coastal Half Marathon

Monday 2nd Feb
I am raising money for Women & Children’s Hospital Foundation in Adelaide, SA, because the work they do for babies, children and women is truly life-changing. Every contribution helps provide vital care, research and support for families in need. This fundraiser means a lot to me, and every donation — no matter the size — helps support families during incredibly important moments in their lives. I am running Grange Coastal half marathon on Sunday, 8th March 2026. Part of the fees goes to support Australian Cancer Research Foundation. Personally, especially since becoming a mum of two, this distance is quite challenging, so lets see if I can conquer it. Will update the training progress in the blogs. Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity! Mel

Last hot day of the HOT week

Friday 30th Jan
Got out early and got it done.

Two Years Old!

Thursday 29th Jan
Two candles! Little Miss L turned 2 yesterday! Can’t believe how time flies. Two years ago she stole our hearts and now she runs the show! We love to watch you grow into a happy -healthy toddler. We are glad you are part of our lives.

6:00AM Easy Run

Monday 26th Jan
Adelaide is embracing heatwave this week, getting out early to get an exercise in is the key. Sunday easy run felt a bit harder when it is hot but I did it. It set up my mind set for the day and I am ready to face the day. Consistency is the key.

6:00am : interval run

Thursday 22nd Jan
It is tricky to find a time for me to run, now that I am back at work and I have two kids to juggle. I find that early morning is best for me to get any type of exercises in (be it yoga, running or weights). Because an exercise helps me to set my mind for the day. This morning I did an interval run, something that challenges my legs….to do the half marathon. I learn a lot from our son, the way he runs is like synchronised car tyres while moving. His strides might be short but his cadence is on point. I often try to catch up with him when he runs but oh boy…. He is wayyyyy tooooo fast!

Riding for little man = sneaky running sesh

Wednesday 21st Jan
Movement is medicine. Little man always needs his daily exercise. He decided to do a ride and I sneaked in a jog to train my legs!I pretended to be the police and he was the paramedics/ambulance and we were trying to save someone tripped over something. We came back home happy and recharged.

Why I am doing it….

Tuesday 20th Jan

Our second child is turning two next week. Two beautiful years of life of our happy, healthy daughter — a life that began with a tough and challenging pregnancy. The care, expertise, and compassion of the Women & Children’s Hospital made all the difference when we needed the most. Through this fundraiser, I hope to give back and support the Women & Children’s Hospital Foundation so they can continue providing life-changing care to families facing high-risk pregnancies and complex beginnings.

Running has been a great tool for me to manage my moods and anxiety through ups and downs (especially in the early years of motherhood). In running, I find peace and that my cup is filled. For this, I will be doing a half marathon with a target finish time of 2hr 20 mins - 2hr 30mins (target pace 6:40/km +). Place and time TBA- I will keep you updated on the blogs.

Thank you for considering a donation. It means a lot!

Cheers,

Mel
