Right now, families are being told they have limited time left with their child.
Dreaming about the future is a normal, beautiful part of childhood.
Who they’ll be. What they’ll do. Who they’ll become.
But for children with brain cancer, those dreams are often taken away.
Instead of planning for school, birthdays and milestones, families are forced to focus on getting through each day.
Your donation today will help fund life-saving research and essential support for children and their families, helping more children reach their milestones, chase their dreams, and have the childhoods they deserve.
A childhood
robbed overnight.
Spencer was just five years old.
He was cheeky, full of energy, and loved bouncing on his trampoline, making people laugh with his silly jokes. He had just started school and couldn’t wait to go each morning.
And like so many children, Spencer talked about growing up, about who he would be, and about becoming a dad one day.
As his mum Laura remembers, “He would talk about growing up and getting married and being a dad. He had all these big plans. That is the hardest part. He had this whole future mapped out in his little mind.”
Everything changed in a single day.
What began as a normal morning getting ready for school turned into an emergency. By that evening, Spencer was in hospital, unresponsive, as doctors worked to relieve pressure on his brain.
Soon after, Laura and Scott were given a diagnosis no family is ever prepared for.
Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), an aggressive brain cancer with no cure.
They were told Spencer might have a year.
They had just four months.
Funding Research. Supporting Families. Changing Futures.
The Women’s & Children’s Hospital Foundation is funding cutting-edge research to develop new treatments and improve outcomes for children with brain cancer, to give families more time.
And throughout every stage of that journey, whether a child is going through treatment or a family is facing the devastating loss of a child, wraparound support is provided when it is needed most.
But with brain cancer still robbing children of their futures, there is still so much more that needs to be done.
Your donation today will fund vital research and essential support programs, helping more children reach their milestones, the chance to chase their dreams, and have the childhoods they deserve.
Thank you for believing that every child deserves the chance to grow up.
