Loving Lucy Mae

Loving Lucy Mae

Lucy was always going to do amazing things with her life.

Lucy was diagnosed with brain cancer on the 15th of August 2007. She was admitted to the Women’s and Children’s Hospital and it became our home for the next 18 months.  She never once asked why and fought this horrible disease with everything that she had. Lucy’s strength and determination was unbelievable. Lucy was given the all clear in 2017.  She had beaten cancer.

Unfortunately, on the 9th June 2020, Lucy suffered a spontaneous brain haemorrhage and was not given any chance to fight this time.  We said goodbye to our beautiful girl at 2:36pm on the 10th June 2020, and our hearts will be forever broken.

Lucy was studying to one day be a paediatric nurse and her dream job was to one day work in The Michael Rice Centre.

Lucy wrote a special little book when she was 15, called TAKE IT ON and designed the character above for the book. Her plan was to one day publish this and make a difference to all the kids on their cancer journey while creating childhood cancer awareness. This amazing little book has now sold over 500 copies and along with merchandise sales has allowed us to make substantial donations to the Michael Rice Centre.

The Loving Lucy Mae fund is based on determination and strength, something that Lucy had in spades. There are no rules, but in the words of Lucy Beck “be brave and fight”. This was the only way she knew.

As a family, we still have so much to give our girl and look forward to seeing the difference ‘Loving Lucy Mae’ can make.

Funds raised under Loving Lucy Mae will be donated to the Women’s & Children’s Hospital Foundation to support and serve children and families under the care of The Michael Rice Centre for Haematology and Oncology at the Women’s & Children’s Hospital.

All profits from merchandise sales and fundraising events will continue to go straight to the very place where Lucy battled through her journey.

Our aim is to create awareness and raise much needed funds while keeping Lucy’s legacy alive.

Let’s continue to put smiles on the faces of all the brave kids currently fighting.

Thankyou for all your support.

Love Jodie, Stuart & Jesse Beck 🌻🌻🌻
