Spring Challenge 2025

I'm challenging myself to search for 25 geocaches in October

I am taking on the Spring Challenge this October to reawaken my interest in a neglected hobby. It may or may not involve my dogs but it will help me to get out and about. Through this, I aim to support children and families at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital

Funds raised through my challenge will provide bereavement care and wraparound support to families in our community who are facing the heartbreak of losing a child.

Thank you for supporting my Spring Challenge!

My Updates

Mission accomplished

Saturday 1st Nov
Over the challenge month, I set out to reignite my interest in geocaching, a hobby that takes you to places you never thought of visiting.
Along with the GPS based treasure hunt, you can help clean up roadside of cans and other rubbish. Take the dogs out in the car and short walks- just watch for snakes 🐍 or 🕷️. No risks - find an easier way.
We doubled our "finds" and reached the fundraising target. Thanks to our supporters.
Get out there and get started with geocaching. Yes, there is an app!
Proud to have contributed again to team Cycle4Sam and I've got the geocaching bug again.  Cheers 🥂.

Sunday 12th October = success

Monday 13th Oct
McLaren Vale provided 4 /4 with help from Ojo the foster puppy enjoyed and Travel Tigger.

Target 🎯 ✅

Friday 10th Oct
Time for a stretch target.
Week 1 found 19
8/10 found  9
9/10 1/1
Total 🟰 29
This fun activity is possible as I am retired so my time is my own (or the dogs , fosters or house dogs).
On the 8th of October, we embarked on searching a themed collection of 50. On a self imposed timeline, we found 9, dnf2 and enjoyed a drive in the Barossa.
The plan is to return for some more.

Week 1 of Challenge 25

Wednesday 8th Oct
This has been more fun than I remembered. It's addictive, just one more before we head home... the dogs make it a bit more challenging at times and provide cover at other times. I enjoy their company so they can come along for the drive.
19 finds this week so well on track for 25 for the month.
Fundraising is near the original target but don't-stop -  thank you all.hay fever is my greatest enemy right now but what's a challenge without a challenge.

Day 1 success

Wednesday 1st Oct
If you don't geocache?, you can do it yourself with the mobile phone and free app.

Day 1 success

Wednesday 1st Oct
I'm surprised that I found the 4 caches today. I did choose those nearby and in the regular and not high difficulty category.
Searched 4, found and logged 4 . 21 to go, they're not all going to be easy!

The year of 25

Wednesday 1st Oct
In memory of Sam.
25 years ago Geocaching was born , a gps based treasure hunt.
I was introduced to geocaching by a friend Barbra, also taken too soon.  This activity based hobby encourages people to get out and about, discover new things and places right under their noses!
My success rate is not that high, but it's fun trying.  In Australia, you can add the awareness of deadly creatures who may also like the hollow log, nook or crannies so one proceeds with caution.
Where suitable, I will include my two dogs to provide variety in their lives.
Wish me luck , drop a few dollars in the virtual tin towards the WCH Foundation .
